Pony Club is a national organisation, supporting and encouraging children, youth and young adults with horsemastership and horsemanship. We encourage fairplay and competition. The NZPCA has approx 8800 members, which makes it one of the largest youth sporting organisations in New Zealand.

The Manawatu Pony Club Show Hunter Committee was established in June 2006, primarily to develop a competitive show hunter event for pony club riders. By taking up this challenge, we have now established the right to hold this event within our region annually.
